On June 16th, our youth group from Christ Fellowship of McKinney, Texas arrived in Kansas City, Missouri for a mission trip. Throughout the week we really felt the Holy Spirit working through us as we shared the Word to the people of Kansas City.
On Monday, our group split up into two groups; evangelism and cleaning. We were both placed in the evangelism group, and went out to spread the Word in an apartment complex. We (Abby and Lexi) knocked on 8 to 10 doors before anyone answered/let us pray for them. Then, finally, a nice woman answered her door, and let us pray for her mother.
Abby asked to place a hand on her and the lady nervously agreed. After we finished praying, the lady said she felt a real connection through us laying our hands on her during the prayer.
On that same day we decided to go evangelize to the houses across the street from the apartments. We knocked on an older lady’s house. It took her a couple minutes to answer, but eventually she did.
Initially, she told us she didn’t need any prayers, but then Lexi offered to give small Bibles to her grandchildren. Then, she began to open up telling us that her grandson needed to know the Lord. We asked again to pray for her grandson and she agreed.
As we were praying for him, she turned around and noticed he had opened up the Bible and began reading it. She started to tear up, and she told us why this was so important to her.
In both moments we really felt the Holy Spirit working through us. This made us realize that sharing the Gospel can make a big difference in someone’s life no matter how much courage it takes.
We want to continue spreading the Word at home because of how much it not only impacted the people we were praying for, but because it also impacted us. It can be really scary to talk to strangers, but it’s so important to spread God’s love to even the people you don’t know.
